SMHS

The SMHS – Resistant Materials is a general course covering 12 areas which is suitable for teachers, technicians and support support in need of basic training. This is a one to two day DATA accredited course. The course duration can be amended to accommodate schools where there are reduced facilities.

A variety of practical assignments will be undertaken to cover the practical requirements of the course.

2, Drilling Machine

3, Powered Fret Saw / Scroll Saw

4, Sanding / Linishing Machine

5, Mortiser

6, Portable Power Tools ( Hand held sanders and drills only)

7, Off Hand Grinding Machine

8, Bench Shears / guillotine

9, Polishing / Buffing Machine

10, Power Hacksaw / Metal Cutting Bandsaw

11, Heat Processes

12, Plastic Moulding Processes

Examples of Assessments: Pewter Casting, Line bending, Vacuum Forming, Finger Joints etc.
